Series is comprised of subject files, a correspondence file, schedule books, telephone message logs and timesheets. These records reflect Robert F. Wagner Jr.'s role as Deputy Mayor for Policy, the chief policy advisor to the Mayor responsible for all issues which have long-range implications for the City. Subject files are in alphabetical order, no order to the personal files and the correspondence files are in chronological order. In addition to correspondence, reports, memos and staff notes there are photographs and two audio tapes.

Robert F. Wagner, Jr. was appointed Deputy Mayor for Policy in October 1979. Before this, Wagner was Chairman of the City Planning commission.
